It's not that Shaq was impressive, Avery Johnson was playing the averages, by sending Shaq to the line he was hoping that Shaq would miss one or both, thus taking away the chance Miami would have decent chance of scoring by Wade or any of the other perimeter shooters. So, it would look like this... Dallas hits a 2 or 3 Pointer, Miami takes the ball down court to counter, SHAQ is fouled he goes to the line misses both free throws or hits one, Dallas comes out either 2 pts to 1, or 3 pts to 1. This was a mistake by the Rookie finals coach (Johnson) because he slows the tempo of the game down and the Mavs are not as good in the half court as they are on the fast break. |

I am afraid that this is the core problem. Quote:
I don't know about the absolute best, but Wade is amazing. Completely carrying the entire team and Dallas has no answers. He's getting past 2 and 3 defenders, making the basket, and getting fouled. A truly superstar performance game after game. Quote:
I still give a slight edge to Dallas, but only if they return to game 1/2 style. Otherwise, toast. -- |

What makes you think the fouls will be called any differently? Their were bad calls and non-calls on both sides of the ball. Of course being a Mavs fan you are only going to see the ones that don't go your way. Just off the top of my head, one that stood out, was when one of the Mavs had a hold of the back of Jason Williams' jersey all the way across the floor when JW was driving to the basket. JW gave up the ball and then there was an offensive foul called on Miami. (This was at the 7:17 mark of the 3rd quarter) Also, lets not forget Shaq has yet to have a monster game. If that happens, the Mavs will be in deep shit. They aren't going to stop Wade if he's on - which from the look of things that's the only setting he has - and if Shaq catches fire, watch out. If he puts in 30 in gm 6 (or 7) it's over for the Mavs. That was a great game last night for basketball fans no matter what the outcome was. I thought for a while there we might have a Bird-Wilkins like shootout between Dirk and Wade. Oh well. BTW, Dirk needs to take some lessons from Ron Artiest on how to break things....That stationary bike push was WEAK. LOL |
