I've seen the Spurs graded everywhere from 'F' to 'A'. Having only a
late 2nd round pick in a weak draft, they did what they should
(could?), by trading it away for a better 2nd round pick next year.

Sweepstakes? Like the Ed MacMahon kind?

There were only 3 (or 4) teams that could pay Ben in the entire NBA.
Apart from the Pistons, he got one offer. ONE offer. ONE!
That doesn't qualify as a sweepstakes. I suppose The NYRangers won the
Brendan Shanahan sweepstakes as well, under your theory.
