Are they going to come to a decision on a new arena, or are they just
going to fight over money? How soon will it be the Las Vegas Kings?
(has a ring to it).

Bottom line is,
no arena = no Kings!

What I don't understand is why does it require a sales tax increase? If
this proposed arena is such a money maker why can't they get a loan?

To my knowlegde the Maloofs still own the city or the county $70M for
the loan from the previous owner. I hate additional taxes, but the
revenue from the taxes would be more that enough to cover the cost of
the arena, and maybe just maybe the local government could actually be
smart and spend the money on schools, roads, parks etc. That would
benifit everyone, not just sports and entertainment fans.

I don't like it that only Sac county people have to pay. How about all
those fat cats out in Granite Bay and Davis ? They get a new arena and us
poor shleps have to pay for it. It's not a fair tax.

The funny thing is that the Maloofs will put the 70 million they owe in the
deal as part of the money they put up for the arena.I think they should be
made to pay the money back now so it can be put back for public use for
anything else that has nothing to do with the arena. They are holding that
money hostage. What if this goes down in the election. Will they pay it back
before they leave town.I think if I and my family were to welcome an
increase in the sales tax that we would rather see all that it brings in go
to were it should really be schools, roads, law enforcement and any other
public service.Ya I know that there is clamoring that this will generate $$
for the local economy. Here this now.If the Malofs get this they will jack up
tickets prices so only the real well to do will be able to go to the
games.Forget ever seeing a game unless your yearly income is 6 figures or
more. The one thing that bugs me the most about this is that they, the
Maloofs, know they have the city and county be the nads.If we don't play ball
their way, they will take their ball and go elsewhere. What do you expect from
people who are born with a silver spon up their***.If it wasn't for their
dad they would not have what they got when he passed on.

Remember its a sales tax, not a property tax increase. Not that I am
supporting a tax but remember the Granite Bay Richo's do shop in sac
county too! That goes for out-of-towners like me! (grew up in Antelope,
moved to Idaho) Should I have to pay for the arena when I don't even
live in California. I am willing, if it keeps the kings in sacramento.

We should put you in the negotiations. I still can't believe they have
not paid that back. They make that in one week in there vegas
monstrosities. Sac has been too easy on them when it comes to the loan.

Would you? (I wouldn't either)

If the Malofs were actually smart. They would set this up to get a
hotel built near the arena as part of the deal. Thats where they would
make the real money. And the hotel tax could help the area. That brings
up a good point has anyone investigated a hotel tax increase? Just
wondering.

Isn't that already an issue? I'll bet they will sight gas prices as a
reason to increase the ticket prices (and parking will go up too!)

The west cost needs to step up or both Sac and Seatle will be without
teams in the next 5 years!
