I find it's almost random (too much so) at times... For example, I will play Chelsea V (someone) and may lose 5-0 and then reload, and play the same game, no changes, and win 4-0... Takes away the whole point of trying to play tactically... What's the point of watching players past performance and fitness level if it's all down to randomness?
Have you ever wondered if there was some reason they replayed matches thathad to be delayed instead of just using an excel spreadsheet of playerabilities to work out which team ought to have won?

I think I detect a touch of sarcasm in your reply... If you are asserting that
there is a randomness to games, I agree. But in this particular footy game, you
can spend *ages* playing tactics and using/resting players and positions
tactically... But if the result is just a random win/lose, what's the point in
taking 15-20 minutes fine-tuning your team to match your current opponent?

Maybe just a little.

I play the game occasionally too. It isn't random per se, in my opinion,
it just tries to capture the random nature of the game, and has one or two
issues with old chestnuts like "super-goalie".

If you use a cheat to hack the game up, play with a great squad with
inflated stats, and at a "great" club, you'll hardly ever lose. It isn't
random really, but maybe "randomness" is weighted a little heavily at
times to compensate for other inadequacies in the game system and it shows
out when your squad is broadly equal or only slightly better to that of
your opponent..

I used the editor to create a new team in the English Prem League... After I
did the same in the Irish and USA leagues... Brought the best (IMO) from the
various teams together, they are currently 3rd in the league... My problem is
not scoring... it's defending... My score rate is 2.5, and my goals allowed is
2.3... So you can see I'm leaking too much... I'm hoping for better next
season...

I recently figured out too that you can't push the "board" too much... After a
successful campaign in the Irish league, I demanded a new ground... The board
disagreed... Since I'd won nearly every match and was doing well, I pushed it,
and... got fired...

oh well... Such is footy/life!

If you meant to say Scottish instead of Irish, then you are George
Burley and I claim my five pounds! :-)
