Certainly, banning a vice like Gambling does place a lot of business in the hands of Organized Crime types, but the instruments of state available to fight Organized Crime are more powerful nowadays. It could well be successful in the US, but around the world, Organized Crime elements would connect their Gambling operations to the Internet and would each have to be pursued and taken down. ============================================= http://www.usatoday.com/sports/foot...POE=click-refer | Sports betting is illegal in the USA except for two states: | Nevada; and Oregon, where consumers bet on sports through a | state-run lottery. ============================================= John |

And? Quote:
So what? Quote:
All gambling is designed to make money for the instigators. It doesn't necessarily mean that the sports that are being bet on are fixed. Occasionally incidents do occur that are directly linked to betting rings, a floodlight failure a few years ago at a Premiership game (West Ham or Charlton iirc) was felt to have been carried out by people linked to a far Eastern group of gamblers. I put it to you that this is the exception rather than the rule and that all your arguments that you have put forward are flawed in the extreme. Quote:
And you have proved you know even less. All you do is come out with stupid ideas which are poorly (if at all) researched. You have provided no evidence as to why it is in the interests of Pools Companies to fix rexults when it has already been identified how much they will be paying out anyway. Basically you are a raving lunatic who is full of shit and hasn't a clue what he is talking about. |

Your claim was that I recalled the Pools structure inaccurately was false. Quote:
This is a ridiculous statement. Quote:
Instigators = Organized Crime, whether legalized, as in the UK, or still illegal in sports betting in 48 of 50 US states. Quote:
What makes you think that if you are aware of some incidents which indicate Organized Crime Gambling division activity, that the majority of their actions are not better hidden ? Quote:
More personal attacks. Typical of Public Relations firms, as a diversionary tactic. Quote:
I never said that Pools companies were involved in Fixing events. Pools in the UK point to a country mired in sports gambling. This might be difficult to motivate the country to react to the corrupt activities which are obvious on the field, such as the Rooney/Referee combo in the England-Portugal match, which resulted in England being ousted from the World Cup Finals. The UK government needs to Ban all sports betting across the country immediately to bring match fixing under control. John |

No. By your argument they need to ban all sports betting across the universe. -- "The Liverpool fans are something special. I remember that, when we were struggling a couple of years ago, they were still supportive and patient." - Gérard Houllier |
