When Rooney is fit he'll be the first choice striker and when it becomes clear that against decent teams Crouch is only average he'll lose his place to the in form English player in the league. If you think anything other then this you're going to be very disappointed! Bernie The Bolt Crouch is no Pele. FACT. But he seems to have to do so much more to prove himself than anyone else. Can you imagine the hype if Rooney had scored 10 in 10 games or whatever it is. It really is time people looked past the fact that he looks like 4 washing line props tied loosley together and concentrate on his end product instead. Thing is, if he did score against higher opposition, you resort to some other excuse or just the plain lame physical description piss takes.
Ask bernie the thick one how many goals andy johnson has actually scoredfor england.

What a shame you're too much of a sh*thouse to ask me yourself.

ScoopeX , i think u dream of Everton more than an Everton fan. This isn't about Everton or Johnson or anything Blue. The question is, do u want a giraffe playing up front when u go up against France or Brazil or Portugal? Crouch has shown that is can't consistantly score against quality opposition. Remember him in the world cup against quality opposition? Crap!

we tried dropping Crouch and playing Rooney against Portugal.
That worked out well didn't it ?

And in the same season... Rafael Benitez's team finishes 5th David Moyes' team finishes 4th (snigger) Bernie The Bolt
