In fact why was Towers even called up to the Jays in September?
He has had a mediocre record (W5 L5) with Syracuse during which he gave up a lot of hits. Yesterday Gibbons could have used Francisco Rosario who has much more potential than Towers; in his last two or three appearances in Syracuse Rosario had been very effective. Furthermore, Rosario can be important in the future of the Jays whereas Towers is not. Yesterday's game was meaningless as will be the remaining games of 2006 as the Jays are out of contention so why not give rookies the opportunity to play? |
