Alright, fair enough... my bad for assuming.


You just said that Marte wasn't a viable replacement. If you don't want
Boone there, who do we put? Kousmanoff? Imagine that he can't go out
and nab a better 3B on the market. Boone, assuming the adage of "it
takes a year off to heal from ACL surgery," should've not sucked. Egg
in Shapiro's face for that decision, but I do know where he was coming from.


I don't think this was such a bad thing. There can be cancers on a team
(even AAA) who just have to GO. He may have been one of those.

And it's not like anyone wants busted talent.


Mark Teixeira and Hank Blalock had very similar seasons at the same age
and experience level. With any luck, he's on that track. We have to
give him a little time. Basically "wait until next year," and
definitely not "wait until 2008."


Ok, I don't know if I buy "since he's taken over," I think last year's
team tried. I think the '04 team tried. I think this team feels
defeated, and what you said applies here.

I think that a lack of hustle is the manager's fault. Like I said, I'm
not too high on Wedge. And I'm definitely not high on Dolan. Replace
those two, and I bet Shapiro gets the job done.


Me too... I've never seen two bad players add up to a decent one quite

IIRC, most of us agreed (and still agree) that they didn't improve the
team at all. I blame Dolan for it, personally: he told us, on WTAM when
they started the firesale, that he'd spend money when we had a
contender. We had a contender. He spent no money.

Alright, I'll buy that. If we had a 93-win team this year, some of
those wins are against the Twins and Tigers.
