Though that's not exactly a good example, since the Padres play in the
much-lower offensive league, and the Red Sox have to play many games
against the good offenses in the AL, especially the Yankees, Blue Jays,
O's, and sometimes-potent Devil Rays.

Tejada isn't even the best hitter in his division, and he'd be the best
in the NL West.

Hmm... I seem to recall someone else saying the same thing.: "Nobody likes to hear it, because it's dull, but the reason you win or lose is darn near always the same - pitching." Earl Weaver But what do those guys know?
Boston Red Sox 820 runs allowed 85 wins San Diego Padres 672 runs allowed 86 wins But we've been down this road before.

I'm stuck up in Yankees country, so I end up listening to a lot of them,
but in all fairness, the John Sterling/Susan Whatsername combo has been
overall better than the previous John Sterling/Charlie Steiner (man, what
a lot of gas was in that booth), and even that was WAAA-AY better than the
John Sterling/Michael Kay combo. Blech...

Great point.

I don't remember the Sterling/Kay combo, but I do remember that the
Yankee$' booth could not hold both Sterling AND Steiner. Maybe it is
proof of Karma that they ended up on opposite shorelines. Hmm???
Maybe it restores a balance in the " force."

I DO get ticked off whenever Susan suddenly clams up to let Sterling
make one of his mundane "Ball two" or "Strike one" calls....

Simulation:

Susan: "I spoke to Joe Torre before the game about..."

BEAT
BEAT
BEAT

John: "Ball outside."
Susan: "... and Joe said..."

Argh...

Did anybody see the game last night? How shady were some of those errorcalls the NY press seems to be harping on?

They were all errors, and cost Daniel his no-no. He had to get 30 outs
instead of 27.

He's got the talent to come close more times, and will succeed at least
once, IMO. Hopefully, it will be in an O's uniform. Trading him would be
foolish.

Yeah, that bugs me too. Overall, I've been impressed with Suzy, and she
seems to do a pretty decent job of interviewing the players and then
relating the salient points of the interview.
