IMO La Russa is a pretty damned good manager. He's gotten the Cardinals into the post-season often enough to demonstrate his abilitiy to work with a disparate group of players. He's doubtless going to the HOF. Who have the Cubs had during his term in St. Louis who's better? Every manager over time will make decisions for or against the box that will be criticized with hindsight. La Russa's overall record in St. Louis speaks for itself.
