They need to dump their GM, not the President/CEO or the manager of the
team. See, this is why the Cubs will never win... because they are consistently too busy blaming the wrong damn people (or not "blaming" situations [e.g. injuries] the Cubs run into) for their problems. They need to fire Hendry. Case closed. --- Cory |

Baker wasn't fired. His contract was up and they didn't renew his contract
so he wasnt fired. Also McPhail was not fired either. McPhail resigned there is a difference. Where the hell have you been you retard? Why dont you look at the facts before you post something stupid like this. If you would listen to espn you would know that when Baker was hired he signed a 4 year deal and his contract expired on sunday which was the final game of the year. The Cubs could have offered him another contract but Baker was the one that made the decision that he wasnt going to come back to the Cubs. McPhail probably did the best thing possible for the organization by resigning at the president. Like I said get your facts straight. I think it's more like the decision was made for Baker by the friendly Cubs management. Ditto MacFail. As for Hendry, he remains, but his clock is ticking down fast. |

I had my facts straight. Dusty was held primarily responsible for the failure of the team... not the GM. Dusty got "uninvited back" for another season (AKA fired). The president/ceo of the team was also made out to be a scapegoat (which I actually agree with, to a point) for the team's failures this season (and the last three), when in fact, IN MY OPINION, it's more on the GM's shoulders than anyone else's. Yet, as of YESTERDAY, when I wrote the post below, the GM hadn't been fired yet. He should be fired. That's what I said. Retarded asshole?? Apparently your contract running out and not getting a
new contract means you are getting fired these days. Then DAMN there are a lot of players that are free agents that got fired. Dont say theres a difference because there is no damn difference. I don't often agree with Mark (I'm trying to remember if I ever have, actually), especially when he top-posts, but I do here. Not have your contract re-newed/renegotiated/extended/whatever does _not_ equal being fired. It may _feel_ like it, but it is most definitely not the same thing. When someone works under a contract, regardless of profession, the expectation is that they get paid until the final date. They do *not* have the expectation that they will get paid *after* the contract is over, do they? You would be hard pressed to find a contract programmer that feels s/he has been fired from every job they've done. And the name calling... nice touch there.
