seems like a rhetorical question to me.

Let's see, the owners are McClatchy and Nutting and the GM is Littlebrain.
Why break a streak... Onward to 15 straight losing seasons!

Yes or No

Ask again in March, after we see what happens in the off season, and
the answers might make more sense.

In the meantime the best answer is, it depends.

If the team starts the season with a roster that consists of the
players currently on it that are expected to return they'll not only
suck in 2007 they'll suck worse than they did in 2006

If the team finally wises up and radically changes the makeup of the
lineup with a trade or two, an aggressive plan on the waiver wire and
pickups of rule V and/or minor league free agents they could not only
be better, but get competitive in a weak division quickly.

If the team follows its past habits they'll probably make lots of
noise, shuffle some players, pickup all the wrong sorts and still suck
just about as bad as they did this year or any of the past 14.

A few things I can say with absolute certainty even at this point
though is that no matter which of these courses the team takes Kevin
McClatchy and David Littlefield will claim their moves represent a
change in attitude and direction, certain dunder-heads in the local
media with repeat their talking points verbatim and most people will
take their word for it and turn over their cash without ever thinking
about it.

I don't know about anyone else but after watching the team pass on
chances to acquire both Ryan Howard and Hank Blalock I'm just giddy
with anticipation to see the left-handed hitter David Littlefield will
acquire.

As there will be no change in the approach to running this team via
Nutting/McClatchy and Littlebrain, the obvious answer is that the team will
have losing season #15 in 2007. And yes, the brainless trust will claim they
are doing things to improve the team. In other words, they will do nothing
to change the course of this team.

As for who Littlebrain will acquire; look under "washed up players" in the
dictionary or in a Google search. They will top the list as "Veteran
Leadership" to a young ball club! What a JOKE!
