Doesn't mater where you live, if you aren't prepared you can becomea victim at any time. How many times do you hear about a homeinvasion in a nice neighborhood - lots ?

Nice neighborhoods are where the valuables are. Breaking
into a slum shack will just cause you to pass out from the
stench of poverty.

What's the chance it will happen to you compared to say, being struck by Shaquille because you heckled him unmercifully at a basketball game? ;-)

Is there a handgun round powerful enough to penetrate Shaq's
fat?

I suppose all the people that did get invaded thought "What's the
chances of me getting invaded?". I'd be on easy street if I survived
the striking by Sahq.

I fired a Big Fifty revolver at a gun shop range. Makes my
..44 Mag Ruger Blackhawk and .40 S&W Browning Hi-Power feel
like pellet guns.

Yow. I have a .44 Redhawk and a Rugar P89 (.40).

I don't tell anyone about the 12 guage as it stays "hidden". ;-)

Heck, Marquis Daniels wasn't even on the team at> that time. Multi-millionaire young men, some no more than ovwergrown kids, without the first clue what real life is all about. Not all, but form what I've seen and heard, a lot of them. Coddled since childhood and shown that the real world's laws do not necessarily apply to them as they do to a 50k+ a year schlub like me, thus, you get the kind of irresponsible behavior that happened that night, as well as the day those "thugs" went into the stands. Irresponsible behavior and guns are a terribly frightening thing.
Ahhh, so no pro athlete should have a carry permit, because they are all irresponsible by definition.
Bullshit. Not what I said. Also, if you had followed Jackson's

career, he hasn't exactly been a coddled player with no real world experience.

Yeah, I know, there is a double standard when it comes to professional athletes, and celebrities in general, but that doesn't mean I can't comment on it. If it were up to me, and it ain't, I'd take that PTC away from that kid so fast it's make his head spin. I don't know all the facts but I suspect his will not be taken away. Suspended perhaps but ultimatly re-instated. Maybe if I made millions a year for working half that year I might think differently and agree that I was "different" than all those "little" people.
OK, I'm not sure what exactly article you read. I read an article about a guy who got in an argument, left the bar, was followed out, and then fired a weapon in self defense. Missed the part that you are talking about where the players said the rules didn't apply to them.
Get's in an argument and fired the gun in self defense? Read what you wroteagain. Seems to me that the guywas getting the worst of it, pulled the gunand fired it in the air, 5 shots by the way, and then the others, perhapsfreaked out by the gun, tore outta there. Articles I've read do not say ifJackson stood in front of the car and fired the gun or confronted the peoplewhile they were driving away or what. All I know, if some asshole that I hadhad a fight with pulled out a gun and fired it and and I feared for my life, damn sure I'd run his ass over if he was dumb enough to stand in front ofme. What's so different about using a gun in self defense then using a car? Both are deadly wepeons, right?Don't know if that's the scenario.

Not saying they are saints, just wondering what criteria you used to determine that it was scary that those five in particular had carry permits.
Young men, _perhaps_ full of their self worth, and you already know whatthis team is capable of when feeling one of their own is threatened, tittiebar, booze, etc...Appearently, you feel that no one who has ever had

recognition because they had talent can ever be responsible enough to carry a gun.
No. You are, and I suspect deliberatly, misunderstanding what I said. I amnot against permits to carry. I am against allowing someone that wouldwildly shoot a gun in a populated area because he got whacked in the mouthhaving a permit to carry. It also rankles a bit that these young men can geta permit rather easily because of their celebrity status while you or Icannot. I doubt you would be so irresponsible, I know I would not.

OK, so it is fair to say that Jackson has demonstrated his
unsuitability to carry. What about the other five? Exactly why did
you lump them all together?

And I still cannot figure out where you get the impression that
Jackson has been coddled or feels that the law does not apply to him.
I've never heard him make any statements to that affect. He went to
high school in one of the poorest areas in texas, did not play college
ball, bounced around many peripheral pro leagues before really
catching on. Does not really fit my idea of an overly entitle, I am
bigger than the beatles mentality.

As far as getting a carry permit-not sure what Indiana's laws are, but
it would take me about an afternoon fo classes and a background check.
Maybe that's the difference here, in Texas a CHL is really not a big
deal at all. Although, most people who have them, that I know, do not
routinely carry. Too inconvenient (can't go into bars, most
businesses, federal buildings, and most people don't want to leave
their gun in their car.)
