Clemens, and his overly large head, whether it be natural, or due to
some hormonal aberration either natural or exogenous, had to sit out just long enough to sign with Houston, so he would miss a few turns in the rotation. A good chance that cost Houston a trip to the playoffs. And people think Bonds has a big head. Thank-you Roger. Are you going to retire again for the 5th time! |

Know who else has a huge head? David Wells. Looks like a fucking pumpkin painted white. What an ugly bastard. He should grow some hair to cover it. |

That's the kind of thing you can only say in hindsight, but it's still a valid point. As it turns out, he could very well have made the difference had he not played games and signed earlier. If I were an Astro player, manager, owner, or fan, I'd be pissed at him for that. |

True, but remember in the 1st few months of the season the steroids attention was at its height; he had to let the steroids focus die down before he came back. |

As it turns out the point becomes very important in hindsite, but I can remember having discussions, (not in here) that if the Astros come close to the wild card or the division, how much will Clemens standoff behavior effect that finish. |

I find it highly suspicious that Clemens sat out for that long....just
long enough ofr a cycle of 'Roids to pass through him. Why doesn't anyone talk about that?? dlew Ah...I'm not really here wrote: Quote:

I've been saying that since March. The guy was all ready to start the season, even pitched in that World League thingy for warmup, then suddenly decided to sit out, after the Book of Shadow mess came up. But as far as nobody talking about it, for one thing, he's white (small factor), but the main reason is he doesn't give the media the finger like Bonds does. |

"as serious as MLB testing". I got a laugh out of that. ;-) Well, I don't think it was the testing that got Clemens sitting out. I'm sure he was pretty confident he'd pass that with flying colors, just like Grimsely or Bonds. But he was probably trying to avoid all the heavy steroids attention at the time, the league threatening to seriously investigate the matter, etc. 'Course, that's just my opinion. There's a chance he could be clean. But I'd really like to see the real list of players that Grimsley named. With the numbers that Clemens put up last year, the sitting out this year, and the Grimsley list, it doesn't look good for him. |
