Default WHY do we want A-Rod?

didn't arod say some retarded line a few years ago that he wouldn't
like to play for ATL because it wasn't diverse?

that one was never fully explained, outside of the fact that arod must
not like being around a bunch of african americans.

I bet not. I remember Smoltz turning 19 Million dollar raise that NY
was offering. I doubt he regrets that either. Smoltz is a true class
act. I bet he would make the same decision.

Chipper would play wherever they paid him to play. He does have 10-5
rights though, so it's not like he can just be flipped without second
thought.

I cannot understand why some members of this group are promoting a trade for A-Rod. Over the years we have had a lot of fine season players who tank in the playoffs. Why would we want to trade for another one? The Braves need, as will many teams, some quality pitching in all parts of the rotation. Then too, there is the issue of payroll. Not even 198.000,000 could buy a World Series ring! Camaro

Who cares man just cuz he has been messing up this season it doesnt
mean hes gonna suck all of his life the braves need him to whin a world
series!

Actually what I recall was his agent claiming that Smoltz was offered 53
million for 4 years to pitch for the Yankees. I don;t know if that was
a 19 million dollar raise or not or if the offer was genuine or not.

That's how I recall it too; I was never completely convinced that the
Yankees ever made such an offer, it sounded like a bargaining ploy. Smoltz
had such strong community roots that few people thought he'd actually leave,
so it sounded to me at the time like his agent was trying to create
leverage.

Yeah, just like Johnny Damon and Roger Clemens would never play in NY.

A lot of this is just noise, IMO, much like the old BS that the Boston
writers used to spew about Ted Williams choking in the biggest games of his
career. You'd think that adults would realize the chance factor involved in
a game like baseball when played by players at the 99.999th percentile of
the population. Jeez!

His dad was a huge Mickey mantle fan, wasn't he? I think Chipper would at
least entertain the notion. However, he'll be asking for an extension to
waive his no-trade anywhere, I'd bet, since he retructured himself into a
cheaper deal for the good of the team.
