Their fall in Motown is a classic By Dan Shaughnessy, Boston Globe Columnist | October 8, 2006 If you are a Red Sox fan, this was your World Series. Typical Shaughnessy bullshit.
The Yankees would have won it all if Manny did not sit out with a fake knee injury.

Surely you are kidding. Do you think even one Yankee fan in the whole
tri-state area knows what schadenfreude means?

It speaks volumes about the history of failure in Boston that their fans are more happy that the Yankees made the playoffs and lost, then they are upset that their own team wasn't even close to being good enough to make the playoffs.

Based on the post you are responding to...I would *love* to hear you
back this statement up.

Spin it any way you want, but the Yankees did much better....much better....then the Red Sox did this year.

They had a better regular season record, and got to play 4 more games
than the Sox. Their fall was just as hard, and just as unwelcome, as
the Sox'. That doesn't even go into the turmoil, the A-Rod saga, the
rumors swirling about Torre being fired, and the off-season questions
about how the "best" team in baseball, the most fearsome lineup ever
assembled, the team with all-stars at *every* position on the diamond,
the team with the odds on favorite to win the MVP, and the team that
outspent every other team in baseball by a ridiculous margin, could
possibly lose to the upstart Tigers. I know more than a few Yankee
fans who were caught looking past the Tigers and the AL in
general...and I am sure they aren't alone.

Not only that but the Tigers weren't even given a chance against the
"mighty" Yankees. I guess we (Tigers) showed not only the Yankees, but
all the "experts" how wrong they can be.
