The Rose Award goes to James Loney of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who went
three-for-four with three RBI in a 9-5 loss to the New York Mets. The Dodgers overcame a 4-0 deficit, but their bullpen failed them as the Mets sweep the series. The Dodgers talk of a better season next year, but Maddux and Garciaparra will be a year older, and the rookies this year had the team in last place in late July. |

This week the Rose Award goes to former Congressional Rep. Mark Foley, whose behavior under duress easily matches for class and style that of Pete Rose himself. |
