Congratulations to the Cardinals and their loyal fans on
a well-played series. I wish you the best of luck against New York. And we hope to see you again next October. Hoover San Diego |

Back atcha, Hoover! The Padres are a great organization and Bruce Bochy is one of my all-time favorite baseball men. The Pads always play the Cardinals tough. Fortunately for us, the pitching got hot at just the right time. I'm hoping we bring more baseball misery to NY in the next week. ;-) If the Cardinals do beat the Mets, the WS possibilities are interesting. If Oakland wins, Tony manages against his old team and if Detroit win, Tony manages against one of his best friends and mentors in Jim Leyland. Thanks again for the well wishes! Go Cards, Tom |

Thanks Hoover! You can be proud of your team--they competed hard and clean. As a Cardinals fan, I would have been disappointed if they'd lost but still supportive of the Pads in the next round. This series could have gone either way, and the Pads will be back in the mix in 2007. Stratbat |

Thanks. You have a good team there, but I didn't think anybody's offense could make the Cardinals' pitching look good. Too much Carpenter, and the Cards' bullpen pitched surprisingly well. Is it true Bochy will be gone? I think that would be a mistake. On to the Big Apple. AJM |

Bruce Bochy did an incredible job with a nearly non-existant hitting team.
San Diego, along with the Dodgers and Houston, are the classiest team to play. It was a great series, and The Padres had great pitching. "Tom" <drsoong@aol.com> wrote in message news:1160367550.845325.261000@h48g2000cwc.googlegr oups.com... Quote:

See, those are the perceptions, but only one of them is close to correct. PETCO Park is such a pitcher's park that it skews the Padres' numbers. Their pitching this year was rather good (ERA+ of 109), but their offense, perceived to be poor, was actually better than average and equal to the Cardinals' (OPS+ of 102). -- Lance "In a world filled with hate, prejudice, and protest, I find that I too am filled with hate, prejudice, and protest." -- Bob Gibson ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |
