Default The good and bad of playoff time

I love this season, partly because of all the good baseball and all the
baseball talk. But I have to say that the level of debate and
discussion in the normally friendly confines of
alt.sports.baseball.mn-twins has taken a decided nosedive over the past
few weeks.

I don't visit newsgroups associated with other teams (much) so I don't
know if we live a sheltered life here (actually talking about baseball
and statistics and success and failure and players and managers and
luck and all the other things we talk about), or if this season just
brings out the dingbats all across usenet.

It almost makes me long for winter.

Lots of sour grapes from Detroit fans about the Twins taking the AL
Central, after a long season of them denying that the Twins were a
real threat.

Even when we went to Comerica to watch the Twins play the Tigers,
many of the fans there were drunken idiots hassling us about wearing
our Twins gear and cheering on the Twins. A very unfriendly place for
visiting fans. So, it has been nice to rub a little salt in their wounds after
the Twins stole the AL Central from them.

Other than the Detroit fan war, this group is still as it has always been....a
little quiet and well mannered, for the most part.

Some of you guys deserved the trash talking, and still do, IMO.

Do you think you might have egged them on just a bit?

Oh yes, definitely. And some of them really deserved it, IMO.

Now that all is said and done, it's time to settle into watching the series
and hoping that the A's or Cardinals take it all.
