Mr. Torre is clearly past his prime. Burnt out by the overwhelming
pressure to win, win, win, he looked like a man just going through the paces this year, when he was awake, anyway. Overmatched by not only Leland in the ALDS but during many individual games this year, Mr. Torre needs to retire with his dignity intact NOW if the Janks want ANY chance at a respectable post-season performance; if they make it there at all in '07. Not to mention, A-Fraud hitting 8th in their last game. How's that gonna go over with him? They gotta trade that guy now. Just gotta. That, actually, is probably a good thing for A-Fraud and the Janks, sadly. Keeping Mr. Torre is clearly a poor move. He's the personification of his team - listless, fireless, just going through the motions. Me likey. ![]() |

Yanks don't need to worry about the Sox - the Jays are our top rival now. As long as the Sox keep Theo in the front office, we have nothing to worry about. Kid got lucky in '04 and we've seen all of his moves backfire since then. I'm sure he'll make another knee-jerk trade right before the first series with the Yanks - sound familiar? |

Let's get back to reality here...unless something drastic happens, I see absolutly nothing changing for The Sox or Yankees next year. The Sox will have a mediocre season...probably not make the playoffs and the Yanks will lose in the first round. THEN Torre will be fired. |

You mean at the same time his contract runs out? If he wants to manage, he'll have plenty of offers. |

He will sign elsewhere. The big difference is that the Sox are building their farm system, and the Yanks are top heavy with old, overpriced free agents, and the balance of leftover contracts. After the next round of housecleaning, which should be a doozy, they will "reload" with a new batch of dinosaurs. There is no way out short of rebuilding -- and we all know George will never commit to that. |
