- You read it here first (but we bet you'll now hear it elsewhere): Robertson was the first pitcher in postseason history to pitch a scoreless inning by striking out three consecutive batters with two runners in scoring position. - Oakland's batters went hitless in 13 at-bats with runners in scoring position, matching the most hitless at-bats with runners in scoring position by one team in a postseason game. The Cardinals went 0-for-13 in those situations against the Mets in Game 1 of the 2000 NL Championship Series. |

The good news, as mentioned on-air, is that they were able to get so many on
base. If they can do that again, they'll score runs. Defense stunk, too...tsp "Tonawanda Kardex" <tonawandakardex@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1160547107.768107.273500@m73g2000cwd.googlegr oups.com... Quote:

I wonder why? Is it just a fluke? Or do they fail to maintain discipline? Is there any evidence that they start swinging at balls and not working the pitcher deep into the count? Seems there would be more reason to choose your pitches wisely if a man is on first. Are the A's headcases? |
