Default coming from Suffolk tomorrow, best way to get there?

Yeah,
Scored 2 tickets to the game tomorrow Comming from Long island. I
usually drive to the game but that has become difficult of late. Here
is the situation. I work in Manhattan so I will have no trouble getting
to the game. My wife, rabid Met fan, is going to meet me there. Here
is what I am thinking. I will drive to Main Street flushing tomorr, pay
whatever it costs to park in a lot. When the game is over, hop on the 7
for a stop, pick up the car and go home.
The alternative, is to park somewhere along the Port Washington branch
of the LIRR. Does anyone one know of decent parking near any of these
atations? Usually the towns only allow locals to park. How often do
East bound trains come after the game?

Thanks for your help, and lets GO Mets!

Aren't they the same directions you take going home from Shea in reverse?

Why not just take the Port Washington branch to and from the game? It
will be difficult to park in Flushing, let alone drive there in rush
hour tomorrow. Then you have to worry about drinking and driving after
the game. Just my opinion.
And as far as I know, the trains stop at Shea on a regular basis when
the game is over.
Here is the schedule for the LIRR. If the game does not go into extra
innings, it usually stops every 1/2 hour. Then 1 hour after that.

Thanks, I was going to drive to Flusing in the Morning and go to work
after that. How hard will it be to park in Port Washington in the
morning?
thanks

I don't know that area well, but you probably need a parking permit,
and you probably have to get there at least 6:30 to guarantee a spot.
Plus you have to consider a lot of other people are going to park there
for the Met game also. Where are you coming from?

Save yourself all the trouble.

Park AT SHEA in the morning. The Park & Ride is the way to go for you.
The Park and Ride lot is the lot located south of Roosevelt Avenue, between
the #7 and the MTA Rail / Bus Yards. If you are familiar with the area,
it's the lot underneath the boardwalk from the #7 train stop to the Tennis
Center / Flushing Meadow Park. It costs $3. Yes, THREE dollars. Enter
the lot from Roosevelt Av. I will be doing this myself tomorrow.

You drive, park at the Park n' Ride. Take the #7 to work. Have the
wife meet you at Shea after work. Car is in the lot. Super convenient.
Drive home. No need to park in Flushing, or on the PW Branch at all.

I don't think you can park on the street, but Port Washington has a
paid parking lot and I believe it's pretty big

You may have more luck with street parking at the stations that are
actually in the city (past Great Neck)
