The whole thing just seems very strange to me. It will be interesting
to see the details about what happened. Was he taking a pleasure ride?
And why in Manhattan? Just seems very weird. And his wife and son
had already headed back home. Why didn't he go with them? Lots of
questions.

When this was first reported, Mike and the Mad Dog were saying they
should cancel game 1 because Cory Lidle was a Yankee, besides the fact
that the weather was nasty,(as it turns out, it was cancelled).
In reading his bio, I see he started his major league career as a Met,
and actually his stats look very good. I don't remember him as a Met in
1997, but that was the first time in 7 years that the Mets played over
..500, with a 3.53 ERA, and he went 7-2. He also had 2 good seasons with
Rick Peterson in Oakland.
So he has many connections to NY, and it is just as well there was no
baseball in NY on this sad day.

He played for 7 teams is a short time, soulless mercenary.

Topo can be extreme, but if the Yankees had beaten the Tigers, Corey Lidle
would be warming up in the bullpen in Oakland instead of trying to avoid a
50-story building in a Cirrus 4-seater.

Yankees' yet another post season collapse has deeper, more macabre, meaning
than yet another fast trip to the golf links. Steinbrenner has blood on his
hands. Then again, that's not exactly news.
