Baseball Tonight says that Carpenter will still probably not start game 2
rather than 3. Sounds like LaRussa has been debating it pretty hard. "The curse of Danny Boy still rules the air waves" <fastpitstops@aol.com> wrote in message news:1160616487.454767.17760@e3g2000cwe.googlegrou ps.com... Quote:

Larussa's choice to pitch game three probably will be sent back to St Louis
before the game tomorrow in order to rest up for the next game (3). The problem in the decision is whether or not Carpenter starts game 2 or 3 will not affect his game 6 start. I am guessing that if the Cards win game 1, then Carpenter will start game 3. The weather rainout affects the mets. The 5 straight games gives Glavine's start adding to make his game 5 on short rest. I was tinkering with the lineup for the game. Encarnation (specifically against Glavine), Wilson, and Bellard have been very good against the Mets. I really would prefer Bellard at #2, vecause he is agressive at the plate, but I thing Encarnacion has better result against Glavine. Since Glavine is a Leftie, after Pujols I switched Edmonds and Rolen to cash in on the the R-L-R switch in the 3-4-5 positions for batting. I am thinking the key is if Eck or Encarnacion get on base, it gives at least one shot with a left handed bat. It places Duncan, Spezio, Rodriguez, Spezio, and Miles waiting to bat off the bench as lefties. 1 Eckstein 2 Encarnacion 3 Pujols 4 Edmonds 5 Rolen 6 Bellard 7 Wilson 8 Molina 9 Pitcher: Weaver -- I throw the ball ninety-two miles an hour, but they hit it back just as hard. -----Joaquin Andujar |
