Will Thomas Re-sign?

Particularly with Everett being let go, I'm guessing that the White
Sox will offer Frank Thomas an incentive-laden contract that would pay
him pretty well if he were able to stay healthy all season wqhile
homering every 13 at bats.

There's almost always someone willing to pay more, and Thomas'
relationship with management has been strained.

scenario...

funny, that is the same thing people said last year losing Mags, Lee, and
Thomas.

Yeah, despite all the "small ball" rhetoric, the Sox offense really depended on the
home run this year. They were ninth in the league in runs scored but fourth in
home runs. (They actually hit more home runs than Boston, but Boston outscored
them by 23 percent -- in the *regular* season, that is!) The offense was bad but
it would have been horrible without the homers. I hope the Sox can work something
out with Thomas and he can get (and stay) healthy.

The pitching was great this year and it should be at least very good next year. If
McCarthy can pitch anywhere close to the way he threw at the end of the season, the
pitching should be excellent.

This year our pitching and defense carried the team throughout. I will not
be too worried about losing one or two of the above three, even if all of
them are gone. Ideally, I'd like to see Big Hurt healthy next year and sign
with the team.

Yep, I agree about the pitching. I think the Sox could actually move
a pitcher or maybe two, to free up some Konerko dollars.

Yes, it is nice to get a 3 run HR when needed!

It's all depending on Paulie. There are rumors in the works of Thome.
There are rumors of Matsui. There are rumors of Garland and some others to
the Reds for Griffy and some others. But until they know about Paulie, they
are stuck.
