One thing I would like to see to help the refs would be to implement a
diving rule, similar to the NHL. There is nothing more annoying that watching a player at the professional level play to get a foul rather than play hard basketball. The original foul should be awarded and the ball given to the team that was the 1st fouled, but a 2nd foul given for a diving/unsportsmanlike penalty. No free throws would be allowed for the diving foul if the team is in the bonus. Then they can both sit in the box....oh wait ;-) What do yall think? -pfalcon |

Diving???? You mean flopping?? It's hard enough for the refs to distinguish between a charge and a block. Let's not complicate their lives any more. I'm not sure what the original poster was talking about. However, at
the high school level (not sure about college), there was a "point of emphasis" on giving TECHNICAL FOULS for players who obviously flopped. This was discussed at our meetings two seasons ago. I personally didn't call any technicals but instead let the play dictate what I should call instead. If the defender flopped in the open court during a fast break, I might let it pass if it didn't affect the play. If the defender flopped while a player was driving to the basket, I might just call it a blocking foul. It really depended. I know some real good veteran officials who called a technical because they thought it would send the correct message to the teams. As I worked lower level JV/Varsity games, I don't see flopping as much. Don |

I think it would pretty much end Ginobli's career. |

LMAO. Actually, the biggger problem with Ginobili is that he always acts like he's been horribly hacked on every drive to the rim. That's where his Oscar-caliber acting comes in. -- Greg Lentz |

The NBA has enough problems with proper enforcement of existing rules and problems playing favorites. Let's not exacerbate the problem... MEC2 |
