Default IS THIS BAD?

In Dolan's first public appearance since his blues band played a club
a few blocks from the Garden on June 1 while Brown twisted in the
wind, the Knicks owner is expected to detail the biggest reason his
former coach allegedly violated his contract - unauthorized trade
discussions with other teams.

The Knicks can document at least a dozen cases in which Brown spoke to
other teams, making trade offers Thomas did not know of. The Knicks
believe that undermined Thomas' stature and bargaining power.

One source said Brown once made an offer to an assistant GM while
Thomas made a different one the same day to the GM of the same team.

and

Dolan, who flew out of his meeting with Brown in a rage Thursday,
saying "I'm not paying him," also will be asked to explain whether he
regrets letting Brown dangle for 40 days before firing him.

and

When Dolan last met with reporters, in Memphis in March, he made a
remark that now seems prophetic. In responding to a question on
whether he was disappointed with the Knicks' record considering
Brown's $50 million contract, Dolan cracked, "That's a misnomer. I've
only spent two-thirds of one season."

Brown is horrified by Dolan's inaction during the 40 days his future
was in doubt.

and perhaps the worst.....

One source connected with the Brown family told The Post: "You get
rather spoiled after dealing with great owners like [Pacers owner]
Herb Simon, [Sixers owner Ed] Snider, when everything is done on a
handshake. When you have to deal with the last two, it's a reality
check."

That was a shot at Pistons owner Bill Davidson and Dolan. A source
close to the family said Shelly Brown, Larry's wife, does not want him
to coach again. That would seem unrealistic, because Brown does not
want his Hall of Fame career to end this way. Brown, however, will not
coach next season.

Unless Dolan has signed confessions from these people who he is saying tried
to make trades with Brown, I don't see how he can prove anything. And even
if he did, it wasn't like Brown had the power to complete the deal. It is
almost the same as any of us discussing some trades on this very NG.
