I think it is a bad deal for Reghi.

Reghi was hilarious, and awful. I'll miss him. When I was in college,
we got local Detroit games, with Bill Laimbeer and I'm assuming this
new guy. If that's the case, he's pretty milquetoast. No "Mark West
says: ain't nothing easy, young man! Take THIS tough shot!" (I'll have
that on a tattoo, eventually) or "Oh, Austin Carr, did Bobby Sura just
throw that down with CREPUSCULAR indignation?" (or likewise). Half the
fun of watching a Cavs game on TV -- especially on 43 -- was the play
of Reghi and the Color Guy. Guokas was simply bemused, Dougherty was
annoyed, most of the rest of them were insane, but in a different way
(I'm looking specifically at you, Austin Carr and Jim Chones). But Scot
Williams is too naturally pro to really be entertaining with Reghi --
Williams could do competent color while the play-by-play guy was having
an epileptic seizure -- so probably this is all for the best. Kinda odd
how strong Gilbert's Detroit ties seem to be, though.

Apparently, since he did the play-by-play for the Cavs for a couple of years
back in the '70s, and I have no idea who he is.

To tell you the truth, I never liked Michael Reghi since he was the sports
guy in Toledo many moons ago. I don't know what it is, but his style just
irritates the heck out of me. Whenever the lag from the satellite feed
isn't too bad, I listened to Joe Tait on the radio while watching the game.
He just tries too hard to be on the cutting edge of teenageness, or
whatever the word is, and he just sounds ridiculous.

Okay, I have to confess: the night down in Dallas or San Antonio or
wherever when he and Austin Carr were picked out for the Kiss Cam was
priceless. Reghi saw them on the jumbotron, laughed, leaned over and
bussed an unsuspecting and totally bemused Carr on the cheek. Austin's
face was a picture.

Well, I've seen Detroit win eight championships overall, while still
waiting for Cleveland's first. Emulating Detroit may not be a bad idea.
