how so? i'm trying to imagine a scenario where we trade lebron, and
cleveland doesn't revolt, hang giilbert in effigy, and tear down the
Q within 10 seconds after the announcement of that trade.

Good article. Windhorst is top notch. The article left me with mixed
feelings. There is no definitely no way Gooden and Varejao will both be here
next year, even if Gooden is this year. Lebron not going anywhere is good
news. The rumor about shopping Z was bullshit. He is not going anywhere.
That is bad news.

The fact that Hughes missed half the season and most of the playoffs against
Detroit and got a bonus because the team won without him sucks. Same for
Marshall, who certainly was not instrumental in our success last year
(though he came around in the playoffs). I guess that's what it took to get
these guys here.

So now we overpaid for free agents last year and have messed our cap space
up for years to come. Hughes needs to stay healthy and earn what we paid
him. Z, Marshall and Jones need to improve on their seasons last year. I
will really be scrutinizing these guys next year. The Four Millstones had
better earn their keep. These signings that looked so good at the time may
determine where Lebron goes in 3-4 years.

I still think we are one player (an outside shooter and great defender) away
from where we need to be. For now, I hope Shannon Brown is ready to play.
Same with Gibson (who I don't expect much from), because otherwise, like it
or not, we are looking at last year's team with older players getting older.
And maybe without Gooden.

Ferry said he wasn't done tinkering, but I think that tinkering may be too
strong a word. I guess more will be revealed.
