Last thing of importance I remember him doing is telling Mick McArthy

Precisely. He thinks MMc is a twat and a crap manager from WC2002 days.
What better way to prove his point and rub salt in the wound than by turning
around the mess that MMc left at SAFC? Few managers have that kind of very
personal motivation to succeed and pity the fool player who doesn't give 100%
every practice and every game to make it happen :-)

Shrewd move. There seem to be a few Sunderland players who are hiding
at the moment, and this will be a major problem solved if nothing else.
