The Rose Award goes to Michael Cuddyer of the Minnesota Twins, who went
four-for-four with four RBI and scored one run in a 11-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Joe Mauer had three hits and also drove in four runs. |

Are you claiming that Cuddyer and Mauer bet on baseball??? Because I had not heard that accusation. I think that would be hard to believe because I believe they care about the game as something larger and more important than themselves. Brian Jones |

Oh. Well, that makes sense. I was just kidding about Rose Kennedy. But answer me this: why in heck would you name an award in Ty Cobb's honor the Rose award? Because there's no question that some people (like me) will think that it is named after Pete Rose, that guy who was thrown out of baseball. Brian Jones Quote:

Some people (like you) don't know much about the game. Perhaps that's why you thought that Cobb was the game's greatest hitter. But Pete Rose passed Ty Cobb. That makes Pete Rose the game's greatest hitter, by definition and without qualification. And we name awards after people like Pete Rose so that people like you, who admittedly, doesn't know much about the game, will be educated. Oh, and BTW: Pete Rose was never thrown out of baseball. He turned his back on baseball. He quit. And he did it after his magnificent playing career was over. You should do a google search on the great players - Rose, Aaron, Stieb, Clemens, etc., etc... cordially, as always, rm |

Rose looks at dealer's face card. It's an eight. Rose holds a six, with a seven in the hole. "Hit me." |
