This is what should have been done last season.

Keane knows all of these players very well so the risks are minimal. He's
adding experience/depth at a number of positions. We seem to be getting more
pace up front, more grit in the middle and more experience at the back.
Those who have been coasting on the existing squad now know what will be
required and they'll have to play Keane's game or enjoy the reserves - a
threat that never existed in the past.

This season could be a lot more fun than we thought!

Paul

he doesnt mess about does he - just confirmed another one
liam miller on a free when was the last time we signed 5 in one go
(6 if you include robbie elliott extension)
i would have prefered to see a striker with pace as yorke seemed
a bit slower during the wc
overall very happy with the day

Described here as "the new Roy Keane" - maybe the master wants to mould him
in his own image? :-)

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player...id=4234&cc=5901

So that's Cunningham, Clarke, Hysen, Riera, Yorke, Wallace, Varga, Kavanaugh
and Miller (Elliott was a no-brainer - why not keep him around until the next
transfer window if the cost and risks are minimal?). Almost an entire first
team - guess this is the wholesale clearout that DaveD (where is he?) wanted
:-)

There's probably six or seven current "first-teamers" who are seeing their
careers go into the toilet tonight unless they work their assess off in the
next four months.
