Back page of the Echo yesterday featured a full page on how devastated
Yorkey was to leave Sydney. He was crying about "sitting by the phone at 5pm on friday, hoping that Sydney would ring and say that they still wanted him". When you read between the lines, what actually happened was that Sydney were struggling to pay his wages, so were prepared to listen to offers. SAFC came in and they let him go. Can't decide if this is a blatant piece of stirring by the Echo, or if he's in a massive sulk and will probably leave after a few games. |

Why would the Echo want to sir it up ? It doesn't make any sense. It sounds to me that he was very happy in Sydney, and not just because of football. But because he was absolutely settled there. I wouldn't be surprised if he lasted until the Jan transfer window and then went back. Think about it, if you lived an idyllic life in Sydney Australia would you want to move to sunny Wearside ? ![]() |
