The Rose Award goes to Jorge Posada of the New York Yankees, who went
two-for-three with six RBI and scored three runs in a 8-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. Randy 'Old Man' Johnson took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning and Posada hit a pair of three-run homers. Jason Giambi figured he'd better start doing something for the team so he broke an 0-for-21 hitless streak with a double to center. |

It's one of those "unwritten rules". You don't try and get hitters out. It goes right alongside the rule that says you don't try and win games with bunt singles, but it's OK to use them to extend hitting streaks. -- ~ Seth Jackson MySpace URL - http://www.myspace.com/sethjacksonsong Songwriting and Music Business Info: http://www.sethjackson.net |

Two 3-run homers? That is a very un-Rose-like performance. It would have been more fitting to give it to someone who got, say, 2 singles in 4 at bats and had a stolen base. And had a couple of grand riding on the game. -andy |
