From Danno Wise,

Your Guide to Texas for Visitors

As Texas' most popular destination, San Antonio has plenty to see and
do. However, many visitors to the Alamo City are unaware of the many
quality museums which are scattered throughout the city.

1) Plaza Wax Museum & Ripley's Believe It or Not!
http://www.plazawaxmuseum.com/

Two of San Antonio's most unique attractions are housed under one roof.
Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum has eight galleries with over 500
displays of the weird, odd, unusual and scary. The Plaza Wax Museum
features over 250 realistic wax replicas of historical figures and
celebrities.

2) Witte Museum
http://www.wittemuseum.org/

San Antonio's first museum, the Witte Museum, features a variety of
permanent historical and scientific exhibits. The Witte is also home to
various traveling exhibits and boasts live gallery performances.

3) Guenther House
http://guentherhouse.com/

Built by Carl Hilmer Guenther, founder of Pioneer Flour Mills, in 1860,
the Guenther House has been restored as a museum, displaying mill
memorabilia.

4) San Antonio Children's Museum
http://www.sakids.org/

The San Antonio Children's Museum is located in downtown San Antonio
and offers a wide array of displays and hands-on, interactive
educational exhibits.

5) Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center
http://www.guadalupeculturalarts.org/

Founded in 1980, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center in San Antonio is
currently the largest community-based, multidisciplinary organization
in the United States

6) McNay Art Museum
http://www.mcnayart.org/

Housed in the former home of San Antonio oil heiress Marion Koogler
McNay, the McNay Art Museum features an extensive collection of
American and European fine art.

7) Institute of Texan Cultures

Originally opened as a display at the 1968 HemisFair, the Institute of
Texan Cultures has evolved into a full-fledged museum dedicated to the
ethnic and cultural history of Texas.

I certainly have to wonder why the Museum of
Fine Art isn't included in the "top 7" and
what about the MOST FAMOUS OF ALL, The Alamo?
And the Palace of Governors? The historic
cathedrals?
Not museums???

I can only imagine there are others left
off the list which probably should be
revised to read the "Top 20"

Well, its just one man's opinion. I think his point is, people come to
SA to see the Alamo, maybe even the Missions, but there's much more to
the city.

Not to even mention THE most important museum to those that frequent this
message group, the one at the corner of East Houston Street and SBC Parkway.
The one that sports not ONE, not TWO, but THREE Larry O'Brien NBA
Championship Trophies!!!

For those that can't count (Louis the Lame), that's one more than in the
Toyota Center.

Don't know. Maybe someone on the Calder Cup newsgroup may be able to help
with an answer on that!

So, you don't know what the Rampage (a/k/a Silver Scum to Houston Aeros fans
;-) play for? (Actually, you'd be better off looking at alt.sports.hockey.ahl
for the American Hockey League details, along with www.theahl.com.)

What the hell is a "Calder Cup?" Some minor league "trophy?"
Or is it some irrellevant "chick" league trophy?

Evidently, news doesn't get to Bryan/College Station very fast...the Calder
Cup is what AHL teams skate for - you know, that league that provides most of
the North American players to the NHL?

Not that I really give a spit about hockey, but that would make it an
irrelevant minor league "trophy", right? Who cares, in reality?
