Let's see now, given their history I say; they will probably continue to overvalue pitching, their own included, and undervalue offense and in doing so spend an absurd amount of money on mediocre veteran pitcher to "stabilize" the rotation. They also will pass on at least one absurdly obvious trade that could land them a potential star left handed hitter because he wasn't "proven" enough for them to give up one their young "future star" pitchers. Instead they will sign at least one mediocre to horrible left handed veteran hitter who is willing to slum it in the 'burg for a year or two to a contract they will end up regretting by the All Star break. They will trade at least one of the younger, cheaper infield options with some potential for improvement (for pitching) and retain the older more expensive punchless wonder at shortstop because of his defense. They will send out the talking heads to declare a new day and major step forward for the organization and how all the contracts they gave out are "bargains" that can be used to acquire talent in trades at the deadline if worst comes to worse. Then "fans" will fall in line and pick up their share of the line to tow and buy tickets to see the latest crop of 8 million per veterans and reward the organization will a basket full of money. ---- If they were to do anything else the front office would first have to understand what their biggest shortcomings are, which they seem incapable of, and second have the ability to know which players are capable of addressing the shortcomings, a talent they've demonstrated repeatedly they do not have. It's what WON'T happen in the off season, but should, that is the real problem for the organization going forward; they fans won't wise up the mouthpiece role for David Littlefield that the local media has taken on and let the season ticket sales fall into the basement. |

They won't win 70, but they might next year not lose a 100 games.
Now that is something that we can look forward to. <laughing> Of course the useful idiot fans of Pgh will still continue to watch the train wreck on the Allegheny and therefore continuing to feed the mediocrity of the Pirate front office. Yeah man. Keep McClatchy and the nut heads making millions while they continue to give us AAA ball team for major league prices.
