I thought it was a nick change but there's just not the invective I'm
used to from any new posters. This is sad. Marc, td, Sashank, back me up here. It's like we spent a tour of duty in 'Nam with a guy and he went AWOL a week before we got our discharge papers. |

Very true. That guy was a stalwart in the Bulls culture war between the doe-eyed armies of optimism who couldn't find a glass big enough to hold all the Krause Kool-Aid and the insurgent realists. Im afraid we left a man behind, somewhere out in the jungle. We won, come on home uncartie. td |

As one of the doe-eyed optimists throughout the Krause era, I can
validate this. You all were right in too many ways about Curry/Chandler/Fizer/Crawford/etc/etc/ad/barf/barf and there was no better and funnier way to be shown just how misplaced my eternal hope was than to get spanked and watch others experience the same humiliating fate by uncartie and the other meanies on this board. Thanks and keep it up and uncartie yes you were nasty and brutal but don't be too hard on yourself as we doe-eyes deserved every slap! td wrote: Quote:

I like to think of uncartie as a physical force that keeps this forum clear of the lunatic fringe, an anti-particle to the Obbie L. Kirks of the USENET universe: Whenever one appears, the other does too; they collide, obliterate each other, and the rest of us are never the wiser. Only the most sophisticated of physics experiments will convince me otherwise. |

I know, maybe there's a signal like the Bat Sign that we were supposed to flash in the sky. uncartie was my tutor, my mentor, in violently depressing USENET prose, I'll always owe him a debt of gratitude. Classic uncartie subject line on the firing or Ray Clay: "Sucking Out The Last Drop Of Joy!" "Krause and Reinsdorf have once again proven themselves experts in alienating loyal fans. I wonder if they lay awake at night trying to figure out someway to tear down the MJ statue, because that's about all that's left as a reminder that the Bulls were once a bonafide NBA team." http://groups.google.com/group/alt....hicago-bulls/ms g/4759f46a54b987fe?dmode=source If we were Japanese, and the Bulls were a nation, I would be awed by uncartie's demonstration of his kokutai on this one: "Wasn't his last "master plan" going to bring us Tim Duncan and Grant Hill? Then it was Tracy McGrady, then Eddie Jones, blah blah blah? Who did we get in reality? Ron Mercer now playing on his 5th team. "You Krause apologists make me laugh. Every year about this time you crawl out of the woodwork to exclaim the awesome virtues of Tubbo's draft picks and how "we're all set" yada, yada, yada. Then the nonsense speculation about decent free agents who end up ignoring us or make us look like fools when they sign elsewhere. A few weeks into the season you all mysteriously disappear. I wonder why??" http://groups.google.com/group/alt....hicago-bulls/ms g/7c779ea5f32b11bb?dmode=source |

"td" did quite a few smackdowns on "Obbie" himself, as did "Chris Adams". Eventually, I don't remember who, but "Obbie" suggested to someone that he could find equilibrium in the power of "Jesus Christ". |

I *miss* Obbie L. Kirk. As a coniesseur of entertaining Usenet trolls, clueless newbies, and general nitwits, I always found him one of the classics of the group. My favorite trick of his - his habit of refusing to actually start a new thread, preferring instead to reply with a new subject heading. Look at how many times he did it in this thread alone: http://tinyurl.com/gva3j Cheers, Chris Hafner |

The renaissance man known as "Obbie L. Kirk" had a lot of tools at his disposal. Perhaps my favorite was to take wild speculation here -- "If this is all we've got, I hope Pax is looking at Kevin Garnett" -- and announce it as something he picked up from his nodes embedded as spies throughout the National Basketball Association. "Kevin Garnett is coming to Chicago, guys! Get read for the 'championship'". That and s_knight threads, which Obbie swallowed like few others. |

No doubt, I miss "Obbie" too. He would have been frothing at the mouth with all of those "KG" rumors from earlier this summer. On the subject of trolls: for as much joy as the Isiah era has offered - and believe me, I feel greedy for asking for any more than we've already received - part of me will always be disappointed not to have had proclamations from SKF1 about every Knicks transaction and the glory to come. It would have been pretty hard for him to keep up after a while, but I know he had the rhetorical flexibility to do it if he tried. Where do they go? NuclearMidnight say what? |
