Default Where are all the pessimists now?

I'm not saying they are going to do it. I'm not saying they are. And I
certainly don't think they diserve it. But where are all the negative
posts? There are an ton of posts when everyone wants to criticize but no
one wants to talk about the good things?

How about if I start...

It was good to see all the starters get a hit yesterday (except Pettitte).

You know, last year when they were tanking, I kept saying "C'mon football
season" & look how things turned out on both ends.
Well, needless to say, I've been repeating that mantra & so far the Texans
are repeating last years performance...

The Astros are the Texans' best friend. As long as the Astros are fighting
to make the playoffs and not quite eliminated the Texans get to take a back
seat in houston sports news. But eventually the Astros' season will be
over. Then the Texans can only hope the Rockets do something news worthy.

As opposed to say the Cardinals who've dropped seven in a row now?
Somebody has to go in this sorry excuse for a division. Personally, I'd
prefer the Astros over the rest of the teams...

Why stop at the Division? The National League hasn't been anything special
this year. They have been so bad this year I would suggest taking the NL
MVP away and giving it to the AL.

From a Cardinal fan ...

Let's remember that *last* year this was the STRONG division and the NL West
was the joke. The Padres won the NL West in 2005 by being a mere 2-games
over .500. The 2nd place team in the NL West (Arizona) was 8 games under.
For a while, it looked as if the NL West champion was going to be a losing
team.

Also, last year, the Nationals came in last place in NL East with a .500
record! That's pretty hard to do.

The Astros were a *very* strong wildcard team in 2005 - as evidenced, not
only by their record but, by their post season success.

The pendulum swings. NL Central did a lot of beating up on each other this
year which tends to lower their W-L records.

One thing is certain, it's not going to be boring in the final week.

You guys are amazing! It seems you do this every year. The Astros remind me
of the Olympic cyclists who hang around in the back of the pack, drafting,
just waiting for the right moment to make their move. If you guys could
manage to put together a decent season *before* the All Star break, you'd be
completely unbeatable.

Good luck ... but not *too* good of luck.

Heh. There's talk of trying to get the Houston Chronicle to declare
the Astros dead in April nexct year.

The hardest thing about always fighting the Cards for the playoffs is
that the Cards' fans are typically the best in baseball. At least in
the NL. Not bandwagoners like the Cubs. Knowledgable. Basically
polite and honorable.

From a Cardinal fan ...

Funny!

Isn't baseball weird with this type of superstition?

If anybody is doing anything great, the superstition is to IGNORE it for
fear that you'll ruin it.

A pitcher throwing a no-hitter is treated like a pariah in the dugout. He
sits by himself and nobody talks to him.

When a hitter is about to hit for the cycle, nobody is going to remind him
of that. Nobody is going to say, "If you can hit a triple, you have the
cycle!"

Having said that, I'd like to say ...

Congratulations on your incredible win streak! If you can just keep it up
you can probably win the Division! Oswalt is pitching so well!

Hey Cardinal fan! You can take your kind words and all your playoff
appearances and shove 'm straight up ... wait, I said that once
already.

Maybe it worked?
