Beat the Astros!

(As a side note: How come you guys can sweep the Cards, but can't win
one against the Astros?!)

The Pirates are better buddies with the guys on than Astros and they would
much rather see them in the playoffs than the Cards. Either that, or they're
just tired of playing baseball. It happens. ...Cards are gonna limp in
though I think. What happened to their pitching though? It looks like a
disaster now. Not exactly the staff you want to take into the short first
round of the playoffs. ...Good luck though.

Personally, I think the Phillies can take it all if they can get in. Trading
Bobby A. has really got them going for one reason or another. Howard is a
beast. Now up there with Bonds and Albert P. as hitters to watch whenever
they step up to the plate. ...And to think, the Pirates could have had him
for Kris Benson. Oh well. They got Freddie Sanchez and Mike Gonzalez in a
very sweet deal. You win some and you lose some.

Howard isn't in the same league as Pujols.

Down by 1, in the bottom of the last inning, with the tying run on 3rd, with
one out - who would you rather have at the plate, Howard or Pujols?

Howard strikes out WAAAAAY too much to have any confidence in him in this
situation.

Pujols, on the other hand, could hit a grounder that will score that
run -or- maybe he'll hit a flyball that will score the run. Howard has about
30% chance of striking out in this situation.

Yeah, if I had to choose, I'd definitely take Pujols in the situation you're
taking about. He's more experienced and probably more of a complete player
at this point. Howard is still a baby though, and that's scary. I do believe
he will win the MVP this year though. Pujols will be a close second.

What's shakin' in Memphis? Do they still a have a college football team down
there? If so, I have the perfect opponent...

Temple! :-)

Nope, Temple is a huge underdog to that juggernaut in the middle of the
state!

Temple is a huge underdog to everyone. Have you seen the scores of their
games? They've been outscored 174-10 in their fours games. That's pretty
amazing.

now this might sound strange coming from a pirate fan of 46 yeras but i was
rooting for stros to sweep the bucs while the cards continue to lose. what i
am hoping for is for houston to win the division and have to face the mets
in the first round of the playoffs. being a connecticut resident and having
to deal with yankee, mets and redsox fans nothing would make me happier than
to hear the typical arrogant met fan (on WFAN) crapping in their pants over
the thought of having to face clemens, oswalt and pettitte in a 5 game
serious. there is even added pleasure knowing that pedro is out for the
entire playoffs. GO STROS!!!!!!!!!!!
