You know, the guy who posted in August and September saying that the
Giants were just hiding in wait for their chance to win the division, the same guy who would say, "we have them right where we want them" when the Giants were 5 games back? Where's that guy now? Throw another McGowan payroll chicken along the clothes line of years the San Francisco Giants have been shut out of the World Series. That's a lot of yellow payroll chickens. Between the negative press that Bonds recieved and for having the Dodgers celebrate in San Francisco, this year stings real bad. In a way I hope either the Padres or the Dodgers win the Series so that Giants management will feel the hurt even harder than they do. Once the Pads win it'll be S.F. and Colorado as the only teams in the N.L. West with no crown. Let's get to FIFTY YEARS with nothing to show for it...I now it can happen. 13 years with the best offensive player in the game and we have no ring. |

It doesn't look like payroll is the problem. 5 of the 8 playoff teams spent
less than the Giants. Only NY, NY and LA spent more, and they are the 2 biggest markets and would be expected to spend the most. "thursday@9" <highclark@sbcglobal.net> wrote in message news:1159747669.557661.130050@i3g2000cwc.googlegro ups.com... Quote:

That's why I earmarked the tally at FIFTY YEARS. I agree that they won't sniff the post season next year. The rain out in St.Louis was just the baseball god showing mercy on the Giants organization. Otherwise they would have tied for the basement. Hey, we're a half game better than Colorado!!!!WHOO HOOO!!!!!! |

Lay off on him. At least he's pro Giants and being optimistic. Your paragraph here almost sound like you're so happy the Giants sucked so you can claim that you were right. Quote:
I hope you were drunk when you typed this. No real Giants fan would wish the bums to win the WS, no matter what the circumstance. |

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS...not NEW YORK GIANTS. LA DODGER fans don't talk to Giant fans about the New York teams and their history. You know why...because the LA Dodgers have scoreboard over the team from San Francisco. The Giants are 0 for Frisco. |

----I don't need to lay off on him...he's nowhere to be found. One thing I can say for certain, I am not happy that the Giants suck. Not at all. I don't whistle optimistic Disney shit, I call 'em as I see 'em. You won't get rah-rah Kruk & Kuip company shilling, but I don't begrudge others for drinking the Kool-Aid, that's their business. But if you're going to make daily claims and be the Nostradamus guy as it's happening, then come back when the season is over and take your lumps. I'm sure the dude would be posting quite a bit had the Giants not turned into a team of Tanners and Ogilvee's...or Benitez'. Quote:
------My choice for the Series would be for either the Twins or the Tigers to win. They were the best stories in baseball this year and the other teams have too much history against the Giants for me to root for them. Yes it's true, I was in a different state of mind when I posted that, but I wasn't drunk. You could say that I was pissed, but I wasn't drunk. Dude...THE DODGERS CELEBRATED ON "OUR" FIELD. I thought losing the first game at Pac Bell Park to the Dodgers was bad enough, but they celebrated on our field. The Dodgers will always have that. I'm sure Giants management is reeling from this season. I just think that if the Dodgers were to win the Series it would be the ultimate 'put up or shut up' to the organization. What the hell do they care...3 million people still came into their yard, why should they ever get any better? If you can't tell that I bleed the Orange and Black, then I don't really know what to say. Maybe something that the brain trust of Kruk and Kuip would come up with, something like...'Hey pardner, let's just regroup and saddle back up and go get 'em next year'. Does that make everybody feel better?....anyone?......hello....is this on?......I think they hung up. |

Let me just say this: if you were really taking his predictions that seriously, you need to have a reality check. I thought his posts were kinda fun, providing some optimism and comic relief to a newsgroup that was filled with nothing but dreadful negativity. If your idea is no fan should be optimistic when the team is bad, then you've got some problem. You don't have to agree with him, but faulting a fan for being optimistic is ridiculous. Quote:

Yep, that was hard to take, so I didn't take your "hope the bums win it all" comment too seriously. Just like you should take Snoop's prediction for what it was. Quote:
On the contrary, it could be their perfect excuse. "We couldn't beat the eventual champion, but no one else could either." Quote:
I did not doubt your loyalty; that's why I gave you the benefit of the doubt and assumed you were drunk. I was just reminding you that wishing for the bums to win it all is like swearing in church. Actually, worse. The former is the biggest sin a Giants fan can commit, while the latter... I think you can do worse things in church than swearing. ;-) |
