Default Asch's 10 questions

Steve Aschburner previews the Wolves training camp with 10 Questions of the
Moment:

Summary:

This could be Garnett's last season with the Wolves as he can opt out of his
contract in 2008, so next summer would be the time to trade him if the team
or KG wants to go that way. (My comment: if the team struggles KG will
murder a teammate or two.)

Mike James will be the Wolves starting PG. (Well, duh, that's what they paid
him for.)

The Wolves pray that somehow front court drops into their lap, as nobody on
the current roster will help KG. (Ain't gonna happen unless the team is
willing to take willing to trade for some bad contracts.)

Expect lots of KG and 4 small players. (No doubt.)

Mike James and randy Foye were the Wolves best moves. (They were the Wolves
only off-season moves.)

Asch feels the worst off-season move was not trading for Allen Iverson. The
match up of KG and AI would bring a spark to the team and attention like
nothing else. (Granted but it would have been a Cassell/Sprewell gamble,
likely only to work for at best one year and even then unlikely to produce a
championship run.)

Dwayne Casey learned a few things from last season but like everyone a
target is on his back if the team struggles. (We all know Wittman's waiting
in the wings.)

3 reasons to get excited: KG, the team has the ability to score lots of
points, EG MIGHT finally get his act together. (Not very strong arguments.)

3 reasons not to get excited: McCants is out at least until January,
Rebounding and up front defense matter and the Wolves have none of those
except for KG, the team has a limited future in the sense that they're
capped out and owe 2 first round picks in the near future to the Clippers
and Celtics. (Including one dealt for Marcus Banks, the supposed key to the
Wally trade.)

The mood of the Target Center depends on how the team comes out of the gate.
If the team scores lots and wins fans'll be interested, otherwise it will be
a quiet and empty arena. (I think it'll be empty and if the Vikings and Wild
get hot, the team will be an afterthought, if thought of at all.)

The Wolves expanded front office's best use of their time if the team
struggles: scour the league for the best possible players to get for KG. (I
guess they have to earn their money somehow.)
