Default miracles do happen

Contrary to my post of a week ago, this guy was totally wrong.

"Will he get to play in the post season or hit .300 (as if that matters

anyway)? Casey's going to absolutely bomb in Detroit, I mean totally
suck ass, and if by October the Tigers have managed to fall out of
contention or merely stumble backward into it, Casey's going to be the
scapegoat.

Mark my words, this trade will end up being the greatest misfortune to
strike Casey's career.

The guy has no skills that would allow him to compete the new league
he'll be playing in and AL pitchers are grind him to pulp... it'll take

a miracle for Casey to post a .650 OPS with his new team."

Casey finished with a Tigers OPS of exactly .650.

proving that "p62...@gmail" was wrong wrong wrong, and I was right (as
per usual).

heh.

In a world where Frank Thomas and Scott Hatteberg are almost free on the
free agent market. How much does anybody think Sean Casey is going to
command in the free agent market? He doesn't hit for power. He runs about as
well as your average catcher. His glovework is nothing special.

He's a nice guy and if he hits for average he'll contribute to your teams
OBP. Is that enough to get an everyday job?

I bet you Wayne looks into picking Casey up this winter. Him and Adam
Kennedy.

They don't need Casey. Krivsky won't pursue him. With heir apparant Votto
one step away at AAA just not gonna happen.

I'd rather see Votto myself. He's my second choice, after Dunn to be
the first sacker for the next few years.

But Votto isn't a Krivsky guy and there's no indication at all that the
Reds plan on moving Dunn to first.

And so, based on what I've seen of his MO, I wouldn't put it past Wayne
to add Casey if he's available on the cheap. We didn't 'need' a 3rd
catcher nor did we need to add another second baseman to an already
crowded situation but Wayne decided otherwise and made the moves.

If anything were to prevent Wayne from signing Casey to a cheap deal,
it wouldn't be the presence of Votto looming down south, rather it
would be the fact that Hatteberg is already signed for next year.

The team needs guys who can hit for average. I know that's not popular
around here, but the reason the RISP average is down is because average in
general is down. This team is feast or famine in scoring runs because
unless the park is a home run paradise, the Reds don't have the hitters to
drive in guys without the long ball. Just a few guys who walk and a few
guys who homer from time to time with those guys on base and that's not
enough.

Hold the phone! We're actually in agreement. That's 2 things we agree
upon in 1 day. This and the addition of T. Brenneman. Pop the champaign

The Reds just were'nt a good hitting team period, never mind all the
hub-bub about RISP. Casey's not a legitimate answer unless he signs for
a lot less than what he's making now. Then he has to contend for
playing time with Hatteberg, another lefty.

I don't think the Reds will sign Casey but I bet we hear something
about talks. Wayne will concentrate on outfielders, a middle infielder
and a 4th catcher.

I'm seriously concerned that his big move this winter will be signing
Adam Kennedy to play 2nd.

Cheers,

I don't think we're going to have to worry much about a lack of big
moves.
