For those who have been too lazy, too busy, or too distracted by football or hockey to check for Reds-related news, here's a capsule lok at what you're missing: * The Reds have a new assistant GM. Scott Nethery, who was hired back in February by Wayne Krivsky as s special assistant to the GM for player personnel, became assistant general manager and senior director of pro scouting on Thursday. That makes two assistant GMs that report to Kriv-Dawg. The other one's Bob Miller, who was the director of baseball administration until June when Dean Taylor resigned to join the Royals' front office. * ASBCR welcomes Addison Kay Harang to the world. She was born on Tuesday to first-time parents Aaron and Jennifer Harang: Seven pounds, seven ounces, 19-1/2" long, and born healthy, * In an article pertaining to Thom Brennaman on the Enquirer's website, it says Thom will do 45 games on TV and 45 on the radio, and that the Reds still need to hire a new #2 man for the radio broadcasts for when Thom is on local or national TV. It says that the club is interested in hiring a former player. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs..../610050342/1071 * Another Enquirer article on the open radio job says Tom Browning wants to remain in coaching and is no longer interested in doing radio, and quotes Allen as saying the club's focus so far has been on a former player. The article says Jeff Brantley is said to be the Reds' first choice and names Joe Oliver as a possible backup choice. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs..../610050341/1071 There's also some audio clips of the press conference and comments from Castellini, Allen, and the Brennamans in MP3 format.
