What is your favorite nickname for Albert Pujolz? Some I've heard
include: "Phat" Albert - yuck, too derivative of the old Bill Cosby cartoon show. "El Hombre" - Have seen this online in the PD. Spanish for "the Man." AP needs his own monicker - not a Spanish version of "Stan the Man." "The Great Pujols" - my favorite from Buzz Bissenger's 3 Nights in August. |

That's Pujols. I hate the way Dan and Al pronounce it German-style "POO-holz". It's natural for me too, if I didn't know anything about nationalities, languages, etc. For name, I like "Albert". Given the obvious comparisons to Stan Musial, I think El Hombre is fine, too. Gros Jos is right out. |

"Prince" Albert is another I've heard a few times, not that it's one I'd endorse--reminds me of that old prank phone call joke, where you call a cigar store... well, you probably remember the rest of it. "Phat" Albert and "El Hombre" are too derivative, as you note. "The Great Pujols" doesn't really have a ring to it. Maybe Albert "the Great"? Nah, sorta simple. Let's suggest something with a bit of alliteration. "Awesome Albert"? How about "Pounding Pujols"? Or, how about "The Perpetually Pounding Pujols"? I kinda like that last one! Stratbat |

I agree. I wonder how Stan feels about the derivative nickname for AP? Quote:
No, never heard the joke about the man in a can. <j/k> Quote:
Sounds a bit too sexually suggestive, doesn't it? <G> And the alliteration doesn't work well. [one of my favorite nicknames is 'The Beast'--Jimmy Foxx. So, Pujols could be called 'The Monster'. <j/k>] How about "Ole, Jose" ? <lol> [his real name is: Jose Alberto Pujols] 'The Machine' is original, and very appropriate for the hitting machine that is Pujols. http://www.baseball-reference.com/p/pujolal01.shtml |

Perpetually Pounding Poo-Holes!!!!
Sounds like a new porno DVD series. Let's call him . . . "The Answer" Albert "the Answer" Pujols, cos no matter what the question or the situation, he is THE ANSWER!!!!! How lucky are we to have him? I love the fact that the player WHO WILL be considered the greatest of all time wont ever be seen in a Yankees uniform. Or any other for that fact than a Cardinals outfit. Ruth, Cobb, Mantle, Mays even Musial stand aside The Answer is coming through. "stratbat" <stratbat84@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1160198913.947643.151060@h48g2000cwc.googlegr oups.com...
