Default Ethier questions

Hi,
Living on the east coast I don't get too much opportunity to see the
Dodgers play.
Could someone enlighten me about Andre Eithier.

How good a defensive player is he? I have read that he does not have
a strong arm (therefore he has only played LF). But how well does he
cover ground, judge flies etc. Average, better than average, below
average?

Also since the Dodgers have chosen to use Marlon Anderson over him do
the Dodgers intend to have Ethier as their LF'er next year or was he
just a stopgap?

TIA

I can't answer the range question but Ethier is a rookie so whatever he is
now one can only hope he will get better. He was the LF of the future,
which is of course always subject to change. I think that Anderson is being
used right now because Ethiers bat got cold and Andersons isn't

Default Ethier questions

Ethier's bat got really cold, he got scouted and now seems to swing at
anything, lost a lot of confidence. Mostly, he was just so hot for a
while, I guess it was too good to be true. Defense is average, I
guess, I don't recall any bonehead plays or errors.

More worried today about Lofton getting on base!

J.

He has made some nice accurate throws to the plate. While he doesn't appear
to have a howitzer for an arm, he is accurate. Much of his problem was
fatigue. Though, I'm sure scouting and the opposing teams' familiarity with
him also contributed. He faded fast. I noticed that about the same time the
minor league season ended. I am anxious to see what he brings next year.
