How could such a thing have occurred? The ESPN analysts old told me that
the Yankees were invincible. No other team should dare step on the field against them. They told me Derek Jeter was the most valuable player in the galaxy. After all, he was the shortstop of the New York Yankees. It didn't matter that Justin Morneau's numbers were superior or that he led his team back from a 12 1/2 a game deficit to win the division title---oh no, the MVP would have to be Jeter. It does my heart good to see the Yankees lose. I'm sick and tired of the sports media bias in favor of the Steinbrenner's prima donnas. I'm rooting for the Tigers to go all the way now that the Twins have been eliminated. The American League Central was clearly the toughest division in baseball this year but come postseason play all the pundits bow down to worship at the Yankee altar. All of Steinbrenner's money bought him one more regular-season win and one more postseason win than the Twins. Seems like a lot of extra cash for two games. I'm proud of the Twins. They battled back from far more adversity than the loss of Hideki Matsui or Gary Sheffield. This year's comeback was truly a team effort. Hurrah for the piranhas and "smell those runs" - I can hardly wait for April. |
