Went to the New York Times (see article below) and they already have Torres fired, from hearsay of another paper. I know because it is NYC you have to speculate about a manager move after the Detroit series, but that is just the kind of pressure cooker environment that teams are under in NYC. Especially the yankers. ===================================== http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/spo...e.html?_r=1&ore f=slogin Report: Joe Torre Expected to Be Fired Article Tools Sponsored By By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: October 8, 2006 Filed at 5:48 a.m. ET NEW YORK (AP) -- Yankees manager Joe Torre likely will be fired and replaced by Lou Piniella following another early exit from the playoffs, the New York Daily News reported Sunday. According to sources the Daily News did not identify, Torre is expected to be fired unless he resigns first -- or team officials can talk owner George Steinbrenner out of making the move. <snip> -- |)Chew 'em up Tigers |

Look at the good side; that would get Piniella off of the Fox telecasts. -- I never read email at the Yahoo address! Quote:

First I think Torre isn't leaving, but if he did, it would be the brightside. Torres is the best manager for the yankers...in my mind, Piniella...anyone would maybe win a world series, which Joe has, but he would not keep the team at the top, like Torres has consistently! -- |)Chew 'em up Tigers |

If this is whats wrong with the entire city of NY, than that's not too bad. But.... it's really a fair topic because he was almost fired last year, and he's really getting to be too comatose on the bench when maybe they need a kick in the rear end? |
