Should the Giants pursue him? Does he have gas left in the tank?

Hell no. I'll sleep in the dugout for a lot less than he would want.

His strengths don't seem to play well to ours, he's American League,
he'll probably be expensive, and he doesn't have any real or recent
experience rebuilding teams on a budget.

That being said, I'm sure they'll jump at the opportunity.

Torre has always seemed like an okay guy and all, but is their *any*
excuse not to be hugely successful with the teams he's been given? In
other words, were the last umpteen years in New York a real test of his
managerial ability?

It was luck or something, but he had a nice run of success immediately after
taking over for Showalter.
People were pitying silly Torre for accepting the job.

Well, it's not as if he carried the Braves to greatness, but at least you
know he's not an impediment to winning. To be honest, that's about all I
expect out of a manager.

I'll admit, though, that I wouldn't be upset if the Giants hired him. I
wouldn't turn handsprings, but it wouldn't make me mad, like, say, the
hiring of Ray Knight or Kevin Kennedy. Granted, I've now just ensured
that the new Giants manager will be Ray Knight or Kevin Kennedy, but hey.

That's a fair point. I think maybe one reason managers get little credit
for winning and lots of blame for losing is that maybe that's in direct
proportion to how much they can contribute to a win or a loss. Maybe.

I'd take him over those other two. Easily.
