Default No respect for Detroit

Not just in here - but all the media I've seen - all they talk about is the
Yankees losing and what are they going to do. Emphasis should be on Detroit
winning. They were the SURPRISE team of the season - the underdogs in the
post-season - and they cleaned the clocks of the "Best lineup ever".

I agree. They were arguably the best team for the first 3/4 of the season,
their pitching ended the season with the #1 ERA. But they didn't finish
strong, and people wrote them off. I had no problem with people favoring
the Yankees over Detroit, BUT I heard several say the Tigers could not even
win a game, they didn't deserve to be on the same field with NY, etc.
Geeze, they won 95 games, not 75.

And even now, it's all about how NY blew it, god forbid they give Rogers and
Bonderman credit for pitching 2 gems when it counted. That annoys me.

No kidding! I was watching ESPN last night, you know the NIGHT BEFORE the
ALCS, and all they were talking about was the poor Yankees and what will they
do?

You have two teams who haven't been there for a while, both predicted to lose
the opening round, and they blabber on and on about NEXT season's Yankee
team. Somebody needs to slap them silly.

Don't take that stuff to heart. In 2004 everyone said the Yankees
choked...they did by the way...I don't think many Sox fans took that as
disrespect for our team...neither should you. All you need to do is laugh.
I hope your guys go all the way. I've already said they've won me over and
I'll pull for them to their last out. But if you don't recognize that TEE,
with that line-up could considered chokers...well I don't know what else to
say. Enjoy. Don't let silly shit like this spoil it. Good luck.

I know that the Yankees choked and all too, the could have played better no
doubt, I am just saying that some act like Detroit had nothing to do with
the Yankees losing. No, I don't take it to heart, just annoying to me.
And nothing could spoil this for me (well, losing to Oakland would not help,
hehe).
And thanks.

It amuses me more than annoys me. NYY pitching was thin all year,
which was why the RS had an opening for much of the year and why some
RS fans were annoyed we did not get a good lead on them when we were
healthy. And Detroit did have great pitching in Comerica. Really,
really outstanding, with a v. good game plan on how to attack the NYY
hitters.

I certainly thought the Tigers had a decent chance, although I thought
Minnesota matched up better. I was obviously wrong on that last point
--- the tigers were perfect foes for NYY. A team is more likely to get
tight when it is losing to a team that is not so well respected and is
expected to go down easily. That was a Detroit advantage, so smile and
enjoy it <g>.
