Explain to me why Anderson Hernandez over Lastings Milledge activated for
this series? I would think that another outfileder would be more valuable than a spare infileder, especially with Floyd limping. -- JK Sinrod www.SinrodStudios.com www.MyConeyIslandMemories.com |

I think I'm indifferent. Here's why: Hernandez: - Less of a candidate to make a bonehead play. - With subpar pitching, Hernandez serves as a stellar defensive infield replacement. In fact, I can't name anyone else on the Mets bench that qualifies as a viable defensive replacement. Milledge: - With Floyd injured, another outfielder is certainly warranted. - The Mets can definitely use a power threat on the bench. - Scott |

1.) Because, with Floyd still on the roster and available for pinch hitting, what the Mets really need is another back-up fielder 2.) Because Woodward can become a back-up outfielder, with Hernandez effectively taking Woodward's place as a back-up infielder In the end, the Mets like Hernandez' fielding over Milledge's hitting. |

The Mets are already carrying five outfielders. It would help us to
understand if you would be kind enough to tell us who Anderson Hernandez replaced. "Glassman@work" <jksinrod@aol.com> wrote in message news:Vf9Xg.7133$YD.6811@trndny09... Quote:

Milledge was not on the roster Sept. 1 and therefore can only be on the playoff roster if another position player is injured. He could not be substituted for Ring. |

Which makes sense. But i wonder if it might be better to go with lesser bench and add a relief pitcher. Could live without Franco. |

Because he would bring negative vibes being thet the locker room note incident was made public. Team chemistry is very important, who needs the media focusing on whether Milledge and his teammates are "playing nice", instead of just playing good baseball. |
